Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club to host Virtual Shell Show
The Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club will host a free Virtual Shell Show for 2021 instead of the traditional in-person one held at The Community House on Sanibel. Videos will be premiered on the club’s YouTube channel on March 5-6 from noon to 3 p.m.
In keeping with the club’s mission, the show will feature two days of videos that educate, engage and amuse viewers with a passion for shells. All are welcome to submit a picture they have taken of the famous “Sanibel Stoop” or a “Favorite Shell” for inclusion in the show. There will be door prizes and a photography contest featuring prizes in seven different categories with a “People’s Choice Award.”
Event proceeds from sponsorships and donations will fund grants toward the promotion of mollusk education, for conchology and malacology research at colleges and universities, for local environmental projects encouraging marine and water health, and to support shell and natural history museums.
