TCH to host guest chef for cooking demo
Olde Hickory Golf and Country Club Executive Chef Werner Dietrich and The Community House Resident Chef Jarred Harris will hold a “German Cooking Demonstration” on Oct. 8 at 10 a.m.
They will highlight three of Dietrich’s “Oma’s” favorite recipes. Participants will learn how to make and get to enjoy sauerkraut balls with a warm cheese dipping sauce, German potato cakes and kaiserschmarran — a traditional dessert served in Bavaria and Austria.
Dietrich completed his apprenticeship in Germany and then worked around the world gaining experience and reputation in Switzerland, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. He also completed three world cruises on the Royal Viking Cruise ship.
Southwest Florida has been Dietrich’s home since 2000. He worked in several restaurants locally until joining the culinary team at the Ritz-Carlton in 2005. In 2007, Dietrich moved to the Olde Hickory.
To add to his awards and accolades, he is now an approved culinary evaluator.
The demo is $30 for members and $35 for guests.
Physical distancing, temperature taking and mask wearing will be in place.
