F.I.S.H. to distribute PPE kits to community members
In partnership with the city, Community Housing and Resources, Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club and Sanibel Community Association, F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva will distribute COVID personal protective equipment (PPE) kits to community members on Sept. 30 and on Oct. 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
It will take place at The Community House, at 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.
The free kits are available on a first come, first served basis until the inventory is depleted.
The city received an allotment of disposable face masks, reusable cloth face masks, and a 16-ounce bottle of hand sanitizer from Lee County and is partnering with the groups on distributing them. The F.I.S.H. PPE packets will include disposable and reusable cloth face masks, plus the hand sanitizer.
“The health crisis we’re facing is unprecedented. We’re grateful to partner with the city on such an important venture,” F.I.S.H. President Maggi Feiner said. “This is a true community partnership that will help continue to keep our community healthy and safe.”
The CDC recommends the use of face coverings as a means to protect each other from spreading COVID-19, in addition to other measures including keeping hands clean and social distancing
F.I.S.H. and CHR volunteers will assemble the packages of supplies at the Center 4 Life.
Distribution at The Community House will consist of a no-contact “drive and drop” car line, where people drive in, open their window or trunk, and volunteers drop the supplies into their vehicle.
