Sanibel Fire sets tentative millage, budget

By CHUCK BALLARO - | Sep 16, 2020

The Sanibel Fire Rescue District on Wednesday set the tentative, not-to-exceed millage and budget for the 2020-21 fiscal year during the first of two public hearings at the fire station on Palm Ridge Road.

The millage was set at 1.1089 mills, the same as last year, which exceeds the rollback rate of 1.0854, or 2.1 percent. The proceeds from the millage will be $6,141,456, an increase from the $6,029,089 from last year’s budget.

The budget, including expenditures, transfers, balances and reserves for the coming fiscal year will be $10,353,915.

Both resolutions passed unanimously, and, since nobody from the public attended, there was no public input.

The second and final public hearing will be held Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 5:01 p.m. at the fire station.
