Wait list started for youth program, recreation aides sought

Since reopening the Sanibel Recreation Center on June 8, the facility has operated consistent with the CDC recommendations for social distancing including a 9-to-1 ratio of counselor-to-youth.
As of today, 31 children were registered for the center’s “After-School” Program. Any additional registrants will be placed on a “wait list” based upon the current number of qualified counselors.
In addition, the city is currently recruiting part-time “after-school” recreation aides.
Applicants must be a high school senior or high school graduate; age 17 or older. Experience working with youths is desirable, but is not required. Pay rate is $13 per hour; tolls paid as applicable.
The positions will remain open until filled.
