‘Loaner’ life jackets available

By Staff | Aug 5, 2020

The America’s Boating Club of Sanibel-Captiva reminds residents and visitors that they can borrow life jackets from the Sanibel Fire and Rescue District’s Station 171, at 2351 Palm Ridge Road. They are available on a daily or weekly basis, and the sizes range from infant to extra large adult. The life jackets are supplied through a grant from the Sea Tow Foundation. The U.S. Coast Guard requires that a properly fitting life jacket be available for every member on a boat and anyone under 13 must wear a life jacket at all times while on board, unless they are in an enclosed cabin. In addition, the Sea Tow Foundation rents out EPIRBs and PLB Beacons. For more information, visit www.boatingsafety.com.
