PHOTO PROVIDED Richard Green was installed as president at the Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club's recent meeting.

It is official. The new Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club officers, board members and trust board members have been installed and pinned. Our recent weekly meeting started in smaller breakout sessions to be able to chat with friends. Then all members and guests were brought back together for our formal meeting. The meeting was well attended, including quite a few 6960 District governors – current District Gov. Darryl Keys, immediate past District Gov. Rich Kirschner, past District Gov. Sandra Hemstead, 1st District Gov. Bobbi Bird and Area 3 Gov. Tracie Bagans – as well as our District Membership Chair Alison Charney Hussey and Sanibel City Manager Judie Zimomra. Officers and board members were “pinned” by Keys.

The 2020-2021 officers are as follows: honorary Prime Minister and President Richard Green; President Elect Bill Letendre; Vice President Jonathan Dean; Past President Eldon Bohrofen; Treasurer John Raho; Secretary Chet Sadler and Sergeant-at-Arms Don Russell. The board of directors are Annie Campbell, Cindy Carter, Barbara Ellis, Roger Grogman, Mary Schoeffel and Roger Triftshauser. The trust board members are Bill Harkey, John Henshaw, Dorrie Hipschmann, Scott Mowry, Mike Raab, Clark Rambo, Eldon Bohrofen and Past President Richard Green, ex-officio.

As Green was pinned, he officially changed his Rotary International backdrop to this year’s Rotary logo and theme, “Rotary Opens Opportunities.” He gave a very moving acceptance speech, which can be found on the club’s weekly newsletter. Even though this past year and the start to this year is very different than any other presidency, great things are expected to continue to happen. The Rotary Club extends a warm thank you to outgoing President Eldon Bohrofen and a cheerful welcome to Green. Rotary truly opens opportunities for us all.

In light of COVID-19, the Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club meets on Fridays at 7:30 a.m. via Zoom. To take part, call 239-472-7257. For more information, visit sanibelrotary.org or www.facebook.com/sancaprotary.
