Number of COVID-19 cases rising on Sanibel

Lee County has 10,631 confirmed cases of COVID-19 – 10,435 Florida residents and 196 non-residents – including 32 cases between Sanibel and Captiva, according to the Florida Department of Health.

As of today’s update, the DOH reported that there are 291,629 confirmed cases in Florida. There are 287,789 cases involving Florida residents and 3,840 cases of non-residents. The numbers include Florida residents who are diagnosed and isolated outside of the state.

In Lee County, there have been 80,067 tests given, with 10,631 testing positive and 69,413 testing negative. In addition, 17 cases are awaiting testing and 23 tests were inconclusive.

Also, the DOH reported that there are 203 recorded deaths among Florida residents for Lee.

– San Carlos Park: 2

– Sanibel: 29

– South Fort Myers: 1

– Tice: 7

*DOH officials reported that the city name was not entered when the test results were.
