Sanibel COVID-19 cases increase again by two

Lee County has 8,574 confirmed cases of COVID-19 – 8,421 Florida residents and 153 non-residents – including 27 cases between Sanibel and Captiva, according to the Florida Department of Health.

As of today’s update, the DOH reported that there are 244,151 confirmed cases in Florida. There are 240,710 cases involving Florida residents and 3,441 cases of non-residents. The numbers include Florida residents who are diagnosed and isolated outside of the state.

In Lee County, there have been 68,932 tests given, with 8,574 testing positive and 60,336 testing negative. In addition, 18 cases are awaiting testing and 22 tests were inconclusive.

Also, the DOH reported that there are 179 recorded deaths among Florida residents for Lee.

– San Carlos Park: 2

– Sanibel: 24

– South Fort Myers: 1

– Tice: 5

*DOH officials reported that the city name was not entered when the test results were.
