Number of COVID-19 cases increases on Sanibel

Lee County has 7,859 confirmed cases of COVID-19 – 7,713 Florida residents and 146 non-residents – including 23 cases between Sanibel and Captiva, according to the Florida Department of Health.

As of today’s update, the DOH reported that there are 213,794 confirmed cases in Florida. There are 210,594 cases involving Florida residents and 3,200 cases of non-residents. The numbers include Florida residents who are diagnosed and isolated outside of the state.

In Lee County, there have been 65,938 tests given, with 7,859 testing positive and 58,058 testing negative. In addition, 21 cases are awaiting testing and 21 tests were inconclusive.

Also, the DOH reported that there are 172 recorded deaths among Florida residents for Lee.

– Matlacha: 6

– Miromar Lakes: 2

– Missing: 90*

– North Fort Myers: 250

– Saint James City: 6

– San Carlos Park: 2

– Sanibel: 20

– Tice: 3

*DOH officials reported that the city name was not entered when the test results were.
