UPDATE: American Legion Post 123 received notification from the American Legion Department of Florida headquarters that the Florida Department of Business and Profession Regulation has amended its 2020-09 Emergency Order. Bars that are licensed for alcoholic beverages and serve food may serve alcohol, but they must comply with all other requirements currently in place. Post 123 will reopen to the public on July 3.


ORIGINAL (June 30, 2020):

UPDATE: In light of the recent statewide ban on bars selling alcohol for on-premise consumption, American Legion Post 123 closed again to the public as of June 29 until further notice.

American Legion Post 123, at 4929 Sanibel-Captiva Road, Sanibel, presents the following:

– July 4: Free hotdogs all day, with live music from 5 to 8 p.m.

– July 5: Meatloaf from noon to 8 p.m.

– July 7: Ladies Auxiliary meeting at 6 p.m.

Food is served from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. – spaghetti and meatballs on Wednesdays; steak sandwiches on Fridays; and tacos on Tuesdays. There are also daily specials and half-pound burgers available.

On the third Thursday of every month, an Open Mic is held from 6 to 9 p.m.

The new American Legion eligibility date is Nov. 11, 1918, through today’s current date. All veterans are welcome to become a member. For more information, contact Tim or Randy at 239-472-9979.

American flags that need to be retired can be dropped off.

Open to the public, hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.
