Applications being taken for MPO committee

The city of Sanibel is accepting applications for a resident to serve as a Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Bicycle Pedestrian Coordinating Committee (BPCC) member. The city is seeking participation from a resident who walks or bikes as a primary means of commuting to work.
The committee includes citizens and local state agencies’ staff responsible for bicycle and pedestrian planning for their respective agencies. The BPCC coordinates bicycle-pedestrian planning activities among the agencies and reviews funding for bicyclists and pedestrians in state and federal-aid transportation projects. It also advises the MPO board about development of the bicycle-pedestrian element of its transportation plan and makes recommendations regarding funding for bicyclist-pedestrian projects in FDOT’s five-year work program.
Required qualifications include:
– Sanibel resident
– Bike-pedestrian commuter
