Captiva library providing pick for held materials

By Staff | May 20, 2020

The Captiva Memorial Library is now offering curbside pickup for materials placed on hold.

As of May 9, patrons are able to pick up on-hold materials at all of the Lee County Library System branches. On Captiva, curbside pickup is on Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m.to 4 p.m.

The library building remains closed to the public.

To use the contact-less pickup, patrons can place new holds on library materials. Once filled, the requested items will be available. Patrons can drive to the main entrance, stay in their vehicle and call the telephone number provided on a sign at the location. A staff member will answer and ask for the library card number, check out the materials and bring them to the designated spot for the patron.

Staff will only be available to bring out materials placed on hold.

The curbside pickup is part of the county’s phased-in approach for residents.

The county has also resumed exterior book returns for patrons to drop off checked-out materials. No fines are being assessed for overdue items and due dates have been extended due to COVID-19.

Library branches are unable to accept donations at this time.
