Mix of shells found on Sanibel
Andrew McNeilus, 9, of Minnesota, was on Sanibel a few weeks ago with his family, visiting grandparents Pat and Rhonda McNeilus, who live on-island part of the year. Due to the COVID-19 situation, he was homebound like many children; his family reported that he passed his time doing school work, then taking a walk on the beach on the east end of the island for a break. On his walks, Andrew found a number of shells, including cones, moon shells, baby ears, olives and horse conchs. His family noted that he was especially excited to find the cone shells, since they were his first ones. They added that Andrew has a good eye for spotting shells.
