City of Sanibel beach parking to remain closed
City-owned beach parking lots on Sanibel will remain closed for at least two more weeks.
While city beaches have remain open, a residential parking sticker is needed.
Sanibel City Council on Wednesday extended its closure of all city owned paid beach parking lots through May 15.
The Council also extended its temporary restriction on accommodations through May 15, 2020
As part of the 3-2 vote, Council amended the existing language to allow guests already on the island to remain and rent a different type of accommodation, like moving from a house to a hotel.
The elected board did adopt Gov. Ron DeSantis’ Executive Order for Phase 1 for Re-opening Florida meaning stores and restaurants will be able to reopen, although restrictions will apply.
Retail must adhere to social distancing measures and maintain an occupancy of no more than 25 percent.
Restaurants can serve on-premise food and beverages as long as they follow social distancing measures with an indoor occupancy of no more than 25 percent. Outdoor dining is permitted.
