Local stable continues to try to bring some joy
Whether it’s being the featured act at a child’s birthday party or bringing some joy at a nursing home, Endless Trails strives to make people happier through horses.
With COVID-19 pandemic restrictions and related social distancing rules, it has been harder to bring on those smiles
But not impossible.
On Thursday, Endless Trails visited Cape Coral Rehab in the Cape where they brought the horses out and walked them around the building for the residents to look out and see the animals strut their stuff.
“It allows residents to look out and see something different. It’s the first time I’ve been anywhere with these horses since this whole thing got started,” said Lark Campisano, owner of Endless Trails.
Endless Trails stables in North Fort Myers is a riding stable that gives riding lessons to children and adults and also does trail rides, holiday events at the mall, and appearances at Golisano Children’s Hospital.
Its main business is therapy horses with a white Arabian and two miniature horses. They visit LaBelle Middle School, the Children’s Advocacy Center, as well as nursing homes in three counties.
“We take the horses inside so the residents can pet them, ask questions and so we can learn about their history with horses,” Campisano said. “That’s therapy for them that we can’t do now. We enjoy entertaining the older ones because they don’t have a lot of entertainment going on in their lives.”
“They entertain children at birthday parties and many charitable events. We also take the therapy miniature horses to hospitals and nursing homes. One of our minis, Misty, is the most photographed horse in Lee County by far.”
Campisano said she has been asked to do birthday parties, but hasn’t decided whether to do them yet, especially if there are a lot of people.
“I’m trying to wait a couple of weeks. When they start opening things up, no matter where you go, there are going to be a lot of people,” Campisano said. “We want to make money, but we’re trying to stay safe at the same time.”
Endless Trails Stables is at 19201 Matt Road in North Fort Myers.
