The “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends Education Committee recently received photos from one of its 2019-20 Teacher Conservation Grant recipients. East Lee County High in Lehigh Acres has been working on its project titled “Growing Our Future.” All grades are participating in the project. It used the DDWS funds for supplies to build two greenhouses, two rain barrels, garden hoses and a cultivator. The goal of the project is to create, nurture and maintain an outdoor garden space to support agricultural education and eliminate food scarcity in the community. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the garden is still being harvested and is supplying the fruits and vegetables to needy families.
