With the 2020 U.S. Census currently underway, the city of Sanibel is encouraging its citizens to help ensure a complete and accurate count by responding if they have not already filled out the survey.

This year households have the option of responding through multiple methods:

– By mail

As of April 15, the live self-response rates were as follows:

– Sanibel: 30.8 percent

The final self-response rate for the city for the 2010 Census was 39.5 percent.

The Census determines congressional representation. Depending on the final 2020 Census counts, Florida – as a state gaining population – may receive additional representation in Congress.
