U.S. Census response rate low so far for Sanibel

With the 2020 U.S. Census currently underway, the city of Sanibel is encouraging its citizens to help ensure a complete and accurate count by responding if they have not already filled out the survey.
This year households have the option of responding through multiple methods:
– Online at my2020census.gov
– By telephone at 844-330-202
– By mail
As of April 15, the live self-response rates were as follows:
– Nation: 48.6 percent
– Florida: 46.9 percent
– Lee County: 44.5 percent
– Sanibel: 30.8 percent
The final self-response rate for the city for the 2010 Census was 39.5 percent.
The Census determines congressional representation. Depending on the final 2020 Census counts, Florida – as a state gaining population – may receive additional representation in Congress.
