Professionals sought for island task force

By Staff | Apr 16, 2020

In response to a potential increase in mental health issues due to the physical and economic impacts of the coronavirus COVID-19, a group of islanders is forming an “Island Mental Health Task Force.”

Made of up locals, including some mental health professionals, it extended an “all call” to Sanibel-Captiva health care providers who are interested in joining and helping to foster some creative solutions. The group hopes to interest perhaps recently retired health care professionals or those not working full time, and who might have some time to volunteer their services for the community.

“We know that the impact of the coronavirus pandemic is worldwide and will be long-lasting, so let’s be proactive for our island citizens,” the group stated.
