Islanders invited to gather in spirit for Earth Day

By Staff | Apr 10, 2020

TOGETHER – A Way Forward, an interfaith environmental initiative on Sanibel and Captiva, will mark the 50th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22 by gathering symbolically and spiritually.

At 6 p.m., all are invited to congregate in spirit and in unison to honor creation.

For the “event,” TOGETHER has compiled a collection of inspirations, blessings, poems, quotes and prayers from various faith traditions for those interested. Participants can use them in any way they would like – reading them on a walk, recited aloud to birds in a backyard or shared with a loved one.

For a copy of the material, email togetherawayforward@gmail.com.

The collection will also be posted at www.facebook.com/togetherawayforward.

TOGETHER – A Way Forward includes representatives from the Bat Yam Temple of the Islands; Captiva Chapel by the Sea; First Church of Christ, Scientist; Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church; Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ; and Unitarian Universalists of the Islands.
