H2O Youth Group meets virtually through Zoom
“Zoom” was the buzz word on March 25 for the Sanibel Community Church’s H2O Youth Ministry. Thinking outside of the box, Pastor Kevin Schafer – with the help of high school sophomore Brent Patton-Roark – set up a meeting for sixth-graders through 12th-graders using the video and audio screen-sharing application. Over 40 students and youth leaders participated. At the start of the meeting, Schafer played a game in which he would say “first person to show this item, gets a point.” The teen with the most points at the end won. Summer Santoro took first place and earned a free pizza delivery. After the game, Schafer reminded the teens that God is in control and they had choices. They could choose faith over fear, prayer over panic, and service over selfishness. At the end of the meeting, the teens were broken into smaller groups and entered into private chat rooms with a youth leader. The students had a chance to ask questions and pray for each other. Teens on the islands or the surrounding area are welcome to join the H2O Zoom meetings, which will be held on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. For more information, contact Schafer at 239-472-2684 or email@example.com.
