Community Cooperative hosts Mobile Food Pantry Thursday in Cape Coral
Community Cooperative will hold a drive-thru Mobile Food Pantry for the community in Cape Coral Thursday.
The distribution will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. March 26 at the SWFL Military Museum and Library at 4820 Leonard St.
It is open to anyone in the community needing emergency food distributions, including veterans.
“Demand for services is increasing as business closures result in more people without a paycheck,” a release from teh agency announcing the event states. “Recent challenges of social distancing have forced Community Cooperative to get creative with services, but the mission remains the same, to safely and responsibly meet the needs of our most vulnerable populations throughout Southwest Florida by collecting and distributing resources through a strong and viable network of community partners.”
“For the safety of clients, volunteers and staff, all emergency food distributions have been moved to mobile food pantries, which are all drive thru,” the release adds.
In 2019, Community Cooperative assisted more than 30,000 Lee County residents, providing more 1,299,219 pounds of food, serving 231,008 meals to homebound seniors through Meals on Wheels and logging 42,590 volunteer hours.
