City provides coronavirus-related updates
The city of Sanibel reported today that its homepage (www.mysanibel.com) has been updated to provide quick links to the two official sites for the coronavirus (COVID-19):
– Florida Department of Health: www.FloridaHealth.gov
– Center for Disease Control: www.cdc.gov
For questions regarding the status of private events presented by Sanibel non-profits or clubs or religious services on Sanibel due to COVID-19, contact the organizations directly via their web page or phone for the most current and accurate status.
The Center 4 Life/Senior Center operations will be closed effective March 16 until further notice. The immediate suspension of activities aligns with the State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control’s recommendation to avoid mass events at large, public facilities and the particular vulnerability of citizens aged 60 and above.
The Community Housing Resources offices, at 2401 Library Way, remains open at this time.
The Center 4 Life/Senior Center building, at 2401 Library Way, will open as the Precinct 16 polling location on March 17.
Group fitness classes and personal training at the Sanibel Recreation Center are currently canceled until March 23.
The state of Florida has canceled the Coyote Workshop on Sanibel set for April 9.
‘NO CONTACT’ PAYMENTS TO CITY
During this time of the National State of Emergency, the city’s Finance Department is temporarily processing payments via credit cards (Mastercard and Visa). The department may be reached at 239-472-9615.
The city reminded citizens of their “no contact” options for interacting with the city; feel free to email the city or call it. For paying utilities bills or other city payments, residents may still send checks or utilize the drop box at City Hall, at 800 Dunlop Road.
