Sanibel to host Community Water Quality Workshop

The city of Sanibel will host a Community Water Quality Workshop on March 12 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Sanibel Public Library, at 770 Dunlop Road, Sanibel.

Learn about the current state of Sanibel’s water quality and the city’s efforts to protect and improve it. The workshop is also an opportunity for residents to discover what they can do to improve water quality in their own backyard through the use of best management practices.

The guest speakers and their topics will be:

– “Water Quality Monitoring Scope and Summary of Results for the Past 10 Years on Sanibel Island” with Mark Thompson, of the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation

– “Sanibel Communities for Clean Water” with Dana Dettmar, of the City of Sanibel

– “Naples Botanical Garden: A Model Landscape” with Eric Foht, of the Naples Botanical Garden

– “Wet and Wild: DIY Floating Treatment Wetlands for Homeowners” with Barbara Horvath and Elizabeth “Liz” Mostello-Harris

– “Today’s Golf Course BMPs, Protecting Our Water Quality and Beyond!” with Kyle Sweet, of The Sanctuary Golf Club
