Shell Club to hold meeting
The Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club will meet on March 15 at 2 p.m. at The Community House, at 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel; it will be preceded by a silent auction of shells and shell-related items at 1:30 p.m. Guest speaker Dr. J. Bruce Neill, with the Sanibel Sea School and Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation, will present a program titled “Improving the Ocean’s Future How Are We Doing?” It will focus on observations on the environmental quality of the Gulf of Mexico and Southwest Florida’s waters, ecosystem and wildlife. Neill earned his doctorate in conservation biology from Montana State University, and he has conducted research on coral reef biology and sea urchins and held positions at colleges, field schools and the American Museum of Natural History. Refreshments will be served and door prizes awarded. The meeting is free and open to the public.
