By Staff | Mar 5, 2020

An annual three-day event, which attracts both car and boat enthusiasts, will take place next weekend at Cape Harbour.

The 14th annual Water & Wheels will be held from Friday, March 13, through Sunday, March 15. Admission is free.

The event will kick off at noon Friday, with Fathoms Restaurant & Bar and The French Press providing an array of unique food and dishes with boats — from yachts to kayaks and paddleboards — on display until 5 p.m. 3 Crooked Steps will provide music from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday.

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Water & Wheels will continue, with Wildfire performing live music from 6 to 10 p.m.

The event will conclude Sunday with a car show, as well as the continuation of the boat show. The car show will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the boats will be on display from 9 a.m. to noon. Music will be performed from 4 to 7 p.m. from musician OBE.

Fathoms Restaurant & Bar co-owner Valeria Zanella Voisin said the boat show will feature both boats on land and in the water providing individuals with the opportunity to walk around and talk to the dealers.

The car show will feature approximately 120 cars ranging from classic, to custom and Corvettes, Mustangs, street rods, coupes, race cars, trucks and motorcycles.

“We have judges that judge the cars and then at the end of the car show we give trophies,” Zanella Voisin said.

In addition, they also will have the Michigander top fuel nitro dragster.

“We also have the a nitro car that is turning on two times and people love that,” she said. “It’s really loud.”

The event also will feature vendors, as well as information about the new apartments and condos, expanding Cape Harbour. The Coast Guard will be in attendance offering boat safety inspections. A 50/50 raffle, as well as more music by DJ Music Tom’s Traveling Tunes also will be part of the event.

“It is a very nice event for the whole family. It’s a very family oriented event where people come and enjoy the outdoors,” Zanella Voisin said.

She said she enjoys the car show portion the most because of all the passionate car owners and the effort they put into the cars.

“They are there all day showing their cars because they are proud of the car and the jobs they put on them. It’s very nice to see them and talk to them. There are lots of interesting cars,” Zanella Voisin said.

The event is very well attended, with Sunday being the most popular day with the boat and car show.

“Sunday is the day that more people come around,” she said. “It’s a very diverse event. You can find many things to do.”

The sponsors of the event include Fathoms Restaurant & Bar, The French Press, Safe Harbour Marinas, Marina Villages and Master Touch Installations.

“We are all very excited and looking forward to this event. It’s a very nice event for us and we love it,” Zanella Voisin said.

Cape Harbour is at 5703 Cape Harbour Drive.
