Hirdie Girdie announces guest artist
The Hirdie Girdie Gallery will feature Muffy Clark Gill as its March Guest Artist, with an opening reception on March 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. at 2490 Library Way, Sanibel. Her exhibit includes pieces from her Agua and Agua Vida series, featuring sea life and shore birds. She is a mixed media artist who creates framed paintings on silk using the Indonesian dye and wax resist process of batik, or the similar Japanese process known as rozome. Gill was originally introduced to batik on a trip to Uganda in 1970, and her lifelong love of travel and experiencing different cultures provides the inspiration for her art. She has been recognized locally and nationally in exhibits, invitational shows, art fairs and festivals, and has won awards. Gill’s work is in the permanent collections of corporations, museums and state government offices. She also enjoys teaching batik and rozome workshops.
