Leap Into Family Fun Day this weekend at Jaycee Park
Women’s Council of Realtors Cape Coral-Fort Myers is holding a special outdoor picnic with games this weekend at Jaycee Park, which is open to the community to enjoy.
The event, Leap into Family Fun Day, will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.Saturday at Jaycee Park north shelter, 4215 SE 20th Pl.
“It’s going to be a beautiful place for a bunch of people to have fun. We want everyone to come,” Tammye Cates, who is organizing the event, said.
It is $10 for ages 13 and older; $5 for those age 5 to 12 and free for kids under 5 years old. Those interested in attending are asked to visitwww.eventbrite.com and look for Leap Year Fundraiser & Family Fun Day.
Tickets include burgers, hot dogs, sides, chips and soft drinks.
Cates said everyone often runs around like a chicken with their heads cut off without any time to connect with others.
“This gives us a chance to regroup and say hey, let’s all get together. It’s not just for families, it’s for the big kids like myself,” she said. “Bring your kids out. If there are no kids, bring yourself out. We would love to have 100 people come out and play. I want to make it memorable”
The event is going old school with such activities as a corn hole tournament, pinatas, goofy relay races, limbo, face painters from Marine High School, an artist who will help others paint rocks, a giant Jenga, yard Yahtzee and bingo, Cates said,
Women’s Council of Realtors Cape Coral-Fort Myers is an organization that promotes leadership in women by helping them obtain the skills they need to use in their day-to-day lives as professionals.
The money raised during the event will go towards scholarships provided to the women in the organization who are continuing their education. Cates said it is important to keep on top of the laws and additional classes that can help someone focus on specific categories and needs.
“It helps the community because we become that much more well diverse,” she said.
