Members of the Sanibel Fire and Rescue District recently took part in their semi-annual Hazardous Materials training. Division Chief of Training Tim Barrett explained that one session is conducted with the Island Water Association and the other is conducted on general HazMat concerns throughout the island. In the recent training, the district’s “A” shift personnel participated in a simulated victim rescue and decontamination. All team members are dressed in level A suits, which allow them to enter any hazardous materials situation.
