CCA to offer program on Battle of Gettysburg
The Captiva Civic Association will present a free program about Gettysburg next week.
“Inside the Civil War” will be held on March 4 at 7 p.m. at the Captiva Civic Center on Captiva. Licensed Gettysburg Battlefield guide Bill Trelease will discuss why General Robert E. Lee marched north to Gettysburg, plus the politics, cliques and rivalries tied to the Union Army of the Potomac.
Trelease is a currently a docent at the Gettysburg Battlefield in Pennsylvania.
“He is coming to share information and his knowledge on Gettysburg and the Battle of Gettysburg,” Board of Governors President Lisa Riordan previously reported. “For history buffs, it’ll be an evening they don’t want to miss.”
Admission to the program is free, but reservations are requested.
“The CCA is proud to present ‘Inside the Civil War’ to the community as part of our 2020 series,” Executive Director Roxanne Dyer said. “Civic Hall is a beautiful and truly special space and we love to have the community come and engage in meaningful ways.”
“This event is just one example of CCA’s future plans to present robust programming, while balancing it with our capacity on beautiful Captiva Island,” she added.
