Work to continue on utility pole near Blind Pass
The city of Sanibel reported today that it received an update from the Lee County Electric Cooperative on the Sanibel-Captiva Road utility pole, Gulf-side across from the Lazy Flamingo side parking lot.
LCEC contractors worked well into the evening as planned on Feb. 18. Unfortunately, they were unable to reach the required depth for the new larger replacement pole. The pole was removed and placed safely along the side of the road, behind the guardrail out of the roadway.
Contractors will be back on site on Feb. 26 at 8 a.m. to achieve the required depth, and the line crew will complete the pole installation and transfer the electrical service to the new pole. LCEC will have traffic control on-site.
The area remains an active construction site seven days a week. All motorists, pedestrians and cyclists should remain alert and carefully follow all traffic signage at this site.
