Program on new plant diseases, inspect pests planned

The city of Sanibel’s Vegetation Committee has invited Stephen Brown to present a program, complete with slides, on new plant diseases and insect pests currently on Sanibel or very nearby the island.

Free and open to the public, it will be held on March 5 at 1 p.m. at the Sanibel City Hall.

Brown has been the University of Florida Extension horticultural agent for over two decades. He has trained over 200 Florida Master Gardeners and presented hundreds of programs, and he is a consultant to palm plantations commercial nurseries, resorts, parks and preserves throughout Lee County. Brown also maintains a Website with videos and articles of current interest.

He was a major consultant and advisor to Sanibel on revegetation following Hurricane Irma.

The Sanibel City Hall is at 800 Dunlop Road, Sanibel.
