New book spotlights Ikki Matsumoto’s work
Former artist Ikki Matsumoto’s legendary talent is being celebrated in a limited edition, hardcover, coffee table art book. “Captivated: The Art of Ikki Matsumoto” will document a wide selection of his artwork, from his sandpiper series and silkscreen prints, to his large acrylic paintings and more. Some of the images are from private collections and have never been shown publicly before. The book will also feature a collection of memorabilia and family photos, many taken by Matsumoto’s friend and former island neighbor, Charlie McCullough. Published by the Sandpiper Press and edited by Steve Saari, with a foreword by musician and artist Danny Morgan, only 1,000 copies of “Captivated” will be printed. In addition, 78 copies will be offered in a custom, hardcover clamshell case; the editions will include a choice of one of three rare Matsumoto prints and an invite to a private, pre-launch book party.
