The Captiva Civic Association hosted a Paint & Sip Nite on Feb. 3 with artist Maria Makrynakis at the Captiva Civic Center. Participants created a masterpiece of their own from a blank canvas, under her guidance. Known as the “Creative Sherpa,” Makrynakis has always loved to draw and paint. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design and worked in corporate graphic design for more than 10 years, working for a newspaper, book publisher and the gift industry.
