VIVA Cape Coral set for Saturday at Sun Splash

By Staff | Jan 30, 2020

It’s “fiesta” time as Southwest Florida’s largest and best attended Hispanic heritage event is back with the annual “VIVA Cape Coral” festival.

On Feb. 1 from 4 to 10 p.m., you can head to Sun Splash Family Waterpark to get your fix of live music, food, and family-friendly fun.

Organized by Businesses Supporting Communities, and Latino 97.7, the event is $10 for those ages 12 and up.

“Our Latin/Hispanic population is constantly growing and we have many families that have made Cape Coral their home for more than a generation,” said Janet Vendetti with BSC. “Events like VIVA Cape Coral provide a place for businesses and residents to meet and get to know each other in a safe and family orientated atmosphere.”

This year, Hector Tricoche will be the headline music act. Tricoche is one of the Original Sala Kings and an international musician who sings in the genre of Latin pop and salsa.

Tricoche is known for his intricate and sophisticated horn arrangements and off-stage personality. He’s known to entertain during intermissions with joke telling. He performed with the renowned Tommy Olivencia Orchestra for many years before taking on a solo career.

Other musical acts include DJ Gero and DJ Eric as well as many more live performances from Latino artists.

There will be plenty to do for the kids as well.

“For kids we will have a rock wall for climbing and an inflatable slide,” Vendetti said.

Parents can purchase an all day “unlimited ride” wristband for $10 at the event.

Food vendors will be on-site and include El Tarasco Mexican Restaurant, Maria Rosa Hotgod, Sabor Boricua, Mi Puerto Rico Imports, Kiss My Ice and Amore Italian Market & Bakery.

There will be alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages sold as well.

Event organizers are allowing and encouraging all attendees to bring their lawn and beach chairs, as well as maybe a blanket or jacket to Sun Splash, as the event goes into the night.

When it comes down to it, organizers want to provide a day of fun, celebrating Hispanic culture for the many residents of Southwest Florida of Latino background.

“This is a great family event because of all the event has to offer — great food and music in a safe family-oriented environment,” Vendetti said.
