The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation will host a hands-on workshop with Robert Rauschenberg Foundation Chef-in-Residence Jackie Vitale on Feb. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon in the pavilion at the Bailey Homestead Preserve, at 1300 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.

Explore the world of fizzy fermented drinks as Vitale leads attendees in making three different recipes, including kombucha, ginger bug soda and sweet potato fly. Attendees will be provided with all of the materials and will leave with ingredients to prepare some at home, as well as in-depth recipes.

Vitale comes to Captiva from her hometown of Stuart, where she has spent the last five years growing an urban farm, restaurant and community space called Ground Floor Farm. She is co-founder of the Florida Ferment Fest, an annual celebration of sunshine and microbes.

Tickets are $20 and are available at www.eventbrite.com.
