Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ will host Martin Luther King Jr./Jazz Sunday on Jan. 19. Come experience how the vision of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. and the music of jazz can uplift and inspire when brought together in worship.

The Bill Harris Experience Band will provide music during the 9 and 11 a.m. worship services as Senior Pastor John Danner leads the congregation in honoring the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“Over the course of our nation’s history few figures have been as important as Martin Luther King Jr. His commitment to justice is as needed today as it was in the days of the Civil Rights Movement,” Danner said. “That beauty of that movement was underscored by music – often the same music that even now influences jazz. Our faith rooted efforts to create a more just and peaceful world is ennobled by both Dr. King’s legacy and the jazz.”
