Sanibel Island Fishing Club to hold meeting

The Sanibel Island Fishing Club will hold its monthly meeting on Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. at The Community House, at 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel, with a half-hour social to begin at 6:30 p.m.

The featured speaker will be Capt. James, with Sea Trek Deep Sea Fishing Charters on Fort Myers Beach. He will give the club an overview of its overnight offshore trips to the Dry Tortugas. They focus on fishing offshore wrecks and deep ledges. He will discuss what tackle to bring along and more.

The meeting is free and open to the public.

Pizza and refreshments will be available at a nominal charge.

The club meets monthly during season and sponsors several group outings, as well as lends support to fishing-related charities and organizations like Captains for Clean Water, Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation and Sanibel Sea School.
