By Staff | Jan 9, 2020

In partnership with Florida Gulf Coast University, the Sanibel FlyFishers recently announces the establishment of the SFF/FGCU Water School Scholarship Fund.

The fund will be used to establish an annual one-year scholarship at FGCU for a senior or graduate student enrolled in the FGCU Water School or its Marine Sciences Program.

Qualifying students must be residents of Southwest Florida (Collier, Lee or Charlotte), be of good academic standing, and demonstrate financial need. Student selection will be under the direction of the university with input from the Sanibel FlyFishers.

The club’s fundraising activities will kick off on Feb. 25 with the second annual showing of the Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T) at The Community House on Sanibel. As in 2019, Captains for Clean Water will also receive a donation from the event.

Tickets are $30. They are available at “https://flyfilmtour.myeventscenter.com/event/Sanibel-Fl-3676″>flyfilmtour.myeventscenter.com/event/Sanibel-Fl-3676 and will also be available at Norm Zeigler’s Fly Shop, at 2242 Periwinkle Way, Unit No. 1, Sanibel, and Whitney’s Bait and Tackle, at 1554 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.
