Family Storytime

National Bird Day

The J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge will offer a free guided birding bike ride, free film screening and free bird crafts, along with Refuge Nature Store specials, in recognition of National Bird Day. Weeds and Seeds

Join a group of amateur botanists for a walk from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m., visiting different locations on Sanibel, guided by a leader with a plant list. Meet at the porch of the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation’s Nature Center, at 3333 Sanibel-Captiva Road, Sanibel. Bring a hat, water, sunblock and comfortable enclosed shoes with socks. Making the Land Work

A walking tour of the Bailey Homestead Preserve from 2 to 3 p.m. that blends the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation’s work on the historic property, history of the land and stories about the Bailey family, which farmed it for three generations. Program includes a look at the demonstration gardens at the Native Landscapes & Garden Center, windmill, pavilion, Devitt Pond overlook and entrance to the Bailey family home.
