By Staff | Dec 19, 2019

PHOTO PROVIDED Zonta members wore orange-themed items at their regular meeting on Dec. 3 in honor of “Zonta Says No,” a global initiative that focuses on gender violence that runs annually from Nov. 25 to Dec. 10.

The Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva recently released the following list of save the dates:

– Jan. 7 and 9 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.: 100th Anniversary Blood Drive

In celebration of Zonta’s centennial, the organization is inviting the community to participate in a blood drive at The Community House on Sanibel. Managed by the Lee Health Blood Bank, the event will be mirrored by other Zonta clubs in Southwest Florida.

– Jan. 21 at 7 p.m.: Third Annual Lunafest Film Festival

Featuring films by and about women, the festival will take place at The Community House on Sanibel. As a centennial gift to the community, Zonta is providing the event at no charge. For more information or free tickets, visit www.eventbrite.com.

– Jan. 26: General admission “Peek at the Unique” tickets

Tickets for all departure times will go on sale to the general public at www.eventbrite.com. Currently, departures for 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. are available at a discounted price while the seats last. Regular cost is $100 per person, plus a service charge; proceeds benefit programs that empower women. The 19th annual “A Peek at the Unique” home tour will be held on March 14.

– Feb. 22: Young Women in Public Affairs award

Deadline to apply for Zonta’s YWPA award, with a $1,000 scholarship to the winner. It is open to high school-age students in Southwest Florida who have experience in local or student government, workplace leadership and an active commitment to volunteerism.
