For the past several weeks, teens enrolled in the Sanibel Recreation Center’s After-School Program have been constructing an igloo made of up-cycled plastic milk containers. The igloo was showcased during the 35th annual Luminary Holiday Stroll on Sanibel on Dec. 6 at the Sanibel Community Park. The igloo was constructed out of 422 one-gallon plastic jugs and 24 half-gallon plastic jugs, and it stood 5-feet 2-inches tall and weighed over 42 pounds. It took the youth about 18 hours to construct it. The teens expressed their thanks to the community for their donation of plastic jugs for the project.
