F.I.S.H. welcomes back volunteers for season
F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva recently welcomed back its seasonal volunteers.
Officials extended a huge and heartfelt thanks to its volunteers, who help to make the community stronger. They are heroes who accomplish remarkable feats every day and have a real impact on the lives of island neighbors. With their help, F.I.S.H. continues to honor its mission “to lend a helping hand to those that live, work or visit Sanibel & Captiva Islands.”
“We are thrilled to see our seasonal volunteers return, and we have lots of areas that can use their assistance,” Walk-In Center Manager Maria Espinoza said. “And, we are always looking for additional people who want to volunteer within their community. Even if you have just one hour, once a week, we can find a place for you.”
F.I.S.H. recently held a volunteer recruitment social to introduce the community to the available opportunities. Volunteers are trained in their area(s) of interest and placed with a more seasoned volunteer to shadow. Opportunities to become involved with F.I.S.H. include transportation, meal delivery, phone duty, stocking shelves and more.
“F.I.S.H. could not offer the programs and services to the extent that we do without our fantastic volunteer force,” Executive Director Alicia Tighe said. “Our islands have some of the most committed volunteers with an incredible range and depth of experience that is fundamental to our success.”
The volunteers will be celebrated on Feb. 19 at the F.I.S.H. Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition Luncheon.
