“The LOSOM PDT and PDT sub-teams have been meeting and working through the technical details required to move this project forward,” LOSOM Project Manager Tim Gysan said. “During the December meeting, the LOSOM PDT will meet via online web meeting only, to make it easier for everyone to join us during the busy holiday season. In addition to our ongoing discussions regarding performance measure development and sensitivity modeling, we’ll also begin discussion on the modeling assumptions for our existing and no action alternatives. The sub-team leads will also provide updates on their progress.”
Sub-teams are working specifically on economics, ecology, modeling, plan formulation, water supply and water quality.
The purpose of the Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual (LOSOM) effort is to re-evaluate and define operations for the Lake Okeechobee regulation schedule that take into account additional infrastructure that will soon be operational. The additional infrastructure that will be taken into consideration includes the Herbert Hoover Dike rehabilitation, Kissimmee River Restoration Project, as well as the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) C-43 West Basin Storage Reservoir and C-44 Reservoir and Stormwater Treatment Area.
Additional PDT meetings and public workshops will be held periodically throughout the process.
