Chamber members enjoy festive entertainment at luncheon
The Sanibel & Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce held its final luncheon of the year on Dec. 10 at The Sanctuary Golf Club, with entertainment by a group of singers from the BIG ARTS Community Chorus, under the direction of Ellen Whitten.
The chorus kicked off its annual holiday concert with the BIG ARTS Community Band, under the direction of Mike Lamade, that evening at the Sanibel Community Church. For the members of the band and chorus, the holiday concerts are a labor of love and their first performance of the season.
Both groups are made up of members of the local community who come together to share their love of music. While many are islanders, others travel from Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Lehigh Acres, North Fort Myers and Pine Island to Sanibel for practice from October through March.
“We always enjoy the BIG ARTS Community Chorus performance while we feast on a delicious meal prepared by The Sanctuary’s award-winning culinary team,” Chamber President John Lai said.
The luncheon was sponsored by R.S. Walsh Landscaping & In the Garden.
