Historical village planning for annual gala
The Sanibel Historical Museum and Village will host its 2020 Gala, “It Takes A Village,” on Feb. 18 from 6 to 10 p.m. at The Community House on Sanibel.
There will be a buffet dinner, dancing and a lot of reminiscing.
“This year’s gala will benefit the village as it works to enhance the visitor’s experience and increase its community impact,” Sherry Halleran, event co-chair with Mary Bondurant, said. “We hope people will join us to help support the preservation of this special part of Sanibel. And we’ll have fun while we’re doing it.”
The artwork accompanying the invitation will be a rug depicting every building in the village, crafted by museum volunteer Barbara Broadhurst.
“In 1984, the Rutland House stood alone as Sanibel’s historical museum. Since then, eight additional Sanibel historical buildings have joined it to create a village,” Executive Director Emilie Alfino said. “Our theme says it all: It Take A Village to make the Historical Village such a vital part of the community. From our board members to our volunteers and docents – and, importantly, to the community of Sanibel – everyone plays a big part to make the village what it is today and what it hopes to be in the future.”
Catering will be provided by the Sanibel Catering Company by Bailey’s.
Kelly and Shelly will provide the music.
Tickets are $135 per person; sponsorships are available at several levels.
