Junonia found on Captiva
Julia Finke, 14, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, found a junonia on the morning of Nov. 29 close to Blind Pass on Captiva. She has visited the island many times and every time she gets up early, sometimes with a flashlight, to look for shells. Julia reported that after about an hour of looking, she scooped up a medium size shell and could not believe her eyes. For a minute, she just sat there staring at the junonia. Julia then ran hollering in excitement to her family to tell them about her find. She said she feels so lucky to have amazing shelling opportunities while on vacation, since there is definitely no shelling in Pittsburgh!
