F.I.S.H. offers medical equipment for loan
Complimentary medical equipment loans is one of the services offered by F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva. Islanders and island visitors may borrow equipment temporarily, on a first come first, served basis.
Those needing equipment can call the F.I.S.H. answering service, available 24-hours a day, at 239-472-0404. A volunteer will return the call, confirm the request and arrange to meet at City Hall, where the check-out room is located. In some instances, a volunteer may be able to deliver the needed equipment.
For years, the Sanibel Fire and Rescue District has accepted and stored equipment returns, holding them until the F.I.S.H. volunteers can clean and transfer them back to City Hall. All equipment is to be returned to the station at 2351 Palm Ridge Road. No appointment is necessary to return it, however check in with the station office when returning equipment.
Equipment loans include: wheelchairs and transport chairs (requires a person to push); walkers (non-wheeled, four-legged with wheels, with wheels and seat, and three-wheeled); canes (standard adjustable, four-legged and three-legged with a fold down seat); adjustable crutches; bath bench, bath transfer bench, shower chairs; and commodes and elevated toilet seats (with and without arms).
