The Captiva Island Historical Society kicked off its new season on Nov. 18 with a program called “Celebrating Historic ‘Tween Waters Inn” at the Old Captiva House. During the evening, the colorful “spirit” of Dottie Price Wakefield, played by actress Dena Galyean, made an appearance. She was the daughter of Bowman and Grace Price, who established the ‘Tween Waters in the early 1930s. Wakefield and her husband, John, later owned the property until it was acquired by Rochester Resorts in the ’70s.
