The Sanibel Captiva Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association recently was honored for its monthly Women in Leadership Speaker Series at Sundial Beach Resort & Spa.

The group received the Best Practices Award from the national organization.

“The Women in Leadership Speaker Series supported by strong chapter governance earned us national recognition,” chapter President Gloria Garrett said. “The women who live and work here are an amazing local resource of leadership talent and mentoring. Every speaker has inspired us, generously sharing wisdom from their professional journey.”

The Women in Leadership Speaker Series first launched in August 2018. Since then, each monthly program has featured a noteworthy speaker, including leaders from the local commercial, environmental, cultural and culinary sectors. They have been women influencing the islands’ future.

“The Best Practices Award recognizes a chapter’s contribution to the professional development of women in the community and rewards excellence in chapter governance,” Kira Dworkin, chapter vice president and chair of the Best Practices Committee, said.

The ABWA welcomes the community to its monthly luncheons and to join in the discussion with the series presenters. The next one will be held on Dec. 17 at the Sundial, at 1451 Middle Gulf Drive, Sanibel. Networking at 11:30 a.m., with lunch and the speaker from noon to 1 p.m. Cost for lunch is $25.
